How to add RSS search feeds
Since v5.0 you can easily add almost any search source that provides RSS search feeds to FirstStop WebSearch™.
To add an RSS search feed to the current category right click the engines list and choose the "Add RSS search source" item from the drop-down menu.
In the "Add RSS enabled search engine" dialog, specify the title of the search source (it will appear in the engine list in FirstStop WebSearch™), the URL of the RSS search feed and the URL of the search engine's home page (optionally).
Example:
When you search on MSN, at the bottom of the results page you will find an orange RSS button. This means that MSN provides RSS search feeds and you can add it to FirstStop WebSearch. To do it, right click the RSS button and click the "Copy Shortcut" item of the IE pop-up menu. Then paste this shorcut in the "URL of the RSS search feed" edit box in FirstStop. The URL should look something like
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=test&format=rss&FORM=RSRE. Now you should replace your search string in this URL with
%q% placeholder. In this example the search string was
test:
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=test&format=rss&FORM=RSRE.
After the replacement the URL will look like
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=%q%&format=rss&FORM=RSRE
In the "Title" edit box enter something like "MSN RSS" and in the "Home page", enter "http://search.msn.com". Now click the "Add" button and the MSN RSS search source will appear at the bottom of the engine list in FirstStop WebSearch™, ready for your searches.
Note, this feature works for only search engines that use
RSS 2 search feeds.
