Customizing the appearance  <     ^     >  


FirstStop WebSearch™ gives you several ways to change the appearance of your Search/Result window. An interactive sample of the Search/Research window allows you to view selections prior to committing to the change.

1. From the "View" menu, choose "Options...," or click the "Options" settings button on the toolbar.

2. In the "Options" dialog box, select the "Appearance" tab.

3. In the "Element" edit box, choose from one of the following customizing options:
Title - font settings of the results title text in the Results Viewer.
Plain Text - font settings of the plain text in FirstStop WebSearch™ grids.
Details - font settings of the details line in the Results Viewer.
Links - font settings of the links in FirstStop WebSearch grids.
Visited Links - font settings of the visited links in FirstStop WebSearch™ grids.
Unreachable Document - font settings of the unreachable documents in the Results Viewer.
Filter Highlighting Color - the color of the filter keyword.
Filter Highlighting Background Color - the background of the filter keyword.
Background - background color of the FirstStop WebSearch™ grids.
Each element provides you with the opportunity to adjust the font, point size, style (bold, italic or underlined), and the color of the lettering. The only exception is the Background element, which provides you with color option only.

4. Select the desired font in the "Font Name" drop-down list.

5. Select the font size in the "Font Size" drop-down list.

6. Select the font style by clicking on "B" for bold, "I" for italic, or "U" for underline.

7. To choose the color, click the "Color Selection" button btncolor. A new window will appear, providing you with a color menu. To select a color, click on the color of your choice, followed by the "OK" button, or click the "Define Custom Colors" button to create your own color. An expanded browser window will appear which will allow you to view the color spectrum box. To select a new color, click and hold the cursor colorcur in the color spectrum box until the color of your choice appears in the "Color/Solid" box. To adjust the color value, click and hold the arrow located on the right, moving up or down accordingly. Once a color has been satisfactorily generated, click the "Add to Custom Colors" button located below the color spectrum box. The new color will appear as a selection in the "Customer colors" section. To select a custom color, click on the color of your choice, followed by the "OK" button.

8. To change the row height in FirstStop WebSearch grids, set the appropriate value in the "Row height" edit box.

9. Select the result detail level in the "Details" drop-down list.

10. The "Split lines" checkbox determines whether to separate results in the Result Viewer with "split lines" or not.

11. The "Alternating row colors" checkbox determines whether to use alternating row colors to assist in reading large amounts of search results.

12. When finished customizing the look of your FirstStop WebSearch™ window, click "OK."

13. To return to the original settings, click "Restore Defaults."

Note: Color appearance might vary depending on the version and type of browser installed on your computer.
